Architectural awards wins

Earlier this month, three University of Leeds projects were highly commended for their architectural prowess at the 26th Leeds architecture awards.

  • The installation of the untitled Bas-Relief sculpture on the side of the Stage@Leeds was highly commended in the public realm and landscape design category. Bodington Hall’s architects, Jones and Stocks, subcontracted Hubert Dalwood to create the frieze for the hall’s refectory block in 1961. The sculpture was saved and moved to Stage@Leeds and refurbished in spring 2016.
  • The Laidlaw Library received a commendation in the New Building Category.
  • The Multi–Storey Car Park was highly commended in the Young People’s Review category.

The prestigious awards recognise the contribution building and landscape design makes to the city. Nearly 80 nominations were received over 7 categories for the awards, with further honours given in the People’s Choice and Young People’s awards.
