Lifton Place disruption

UPDATED ON 28/01/22: ROAD AND FOOTPATH CLOSED TO LIFTON PLACE UNTIL 6 FEBRUARY 2022

Lifton Place is closed to vehicles and pedestrians until 2 February 2022 then one-way only for vehicles until 31 May 2022.

This work is to enable underground drainage work to be carried out within the public highway.

Effects of this disruption

Vehicles using Clarendon Place, Cromer Street and Cromer Terrace will be able to use turning areas.

Vehicles delivering supplies to the Refectory side entrance will need to drive up Cromer Terrace and turn around using the turning head at the top of Cromer Terrace.

All vehicle turning areas are designated for vehicle turning only.

Pedestrians are advised to use the surrounding roads and pavements as an alternative means of access to buildings and services around the work area. The contractor will display diversion signage on site boundary fencing.

Partial road closure & one side of Lifton Place closure: 2 February 2022 – 31 May 2022

Lifton Place will be limited to one-way only vehicle access along Lifton Place in the direction of Cromer Terrace.

Delivery vehicles requiring access to make deliveries to the side entrance of the Refectory on Cromer Terrace will be able to use this route (the normal route).

Pedestrian movement will be limited to the footpath to one side of Lifton Place. The available footpath will remain unchanged in terms of wheelchair accessibility. Where entrances are obstructed to the front entrances to buildings on Lifton Place, an alternative entrance should be available to the rear to these buildings. Any issues, please contact the university Project Manager.
