Background information:

Services to be interrupted: Some access restrictions, power and data interruptions.

The second and last phase of work to Garstang X09 riser comprises electrical infrastructure work (including installing new electrical cabling above ceilings).

Some work will be undertaken during normal working hours 07:00 – 17:00 and some work will be undertaken during night shifts 18:00 – 06:00 (particularly noisy and disruptive work).

Some of the work areas will be locked-off to prevent unauthorised access, however, in most instances, the contractor will be working in occupied rooms. Faculty FM’s have consulted with faculty staff to arrange for equipment to be temporarily moved by faculty staff, prior to the commencement of contractor works.

Some power interruptions are essential to facilitate this work. Faculty FM’s have consulted with faculty staff and have agreed on power isolation dates and times stipulated in this disruption notice.

UPDATE 04/07/25:
Further tracing of power circuits has determined that power isolations on levels 6 and 8 of Garstang will affect data services. Please see below updated information regards expected data interruption.

Effects of this interruption upon building occupants: No access to stated areas during night shifts and some power and data interruptions.

Some of these works have been scheduled out of hours to mitigate noise disruption to occupied labs and supporting areas in use.
