New working space for staff in Worsley

A newly refurbished and refitted space for Professional Services staff to meet and work has opened on Level 11 of the Worsley Building.
A newly refurbished and refitted space for Professional Services staff to meet and work has opened on Level 11 of the Worsley Building.
The updated space delivers greater flexibility, enabling people to work in an environment that best suits their needs.
Building on staff feedback
The design was shaped through discussion with staff and users of the space, with feedback highlighting the need for a greater variety of work settings.
The new area includes:
- Twelve new meeting rooms, including quiet rooms and hybrid meeting rooms with A/V technology
- Collaboration spaces
- Telephone booths
David Oldroyd, Head of Capital Programme said:
“We hope that staff enjoy using this new flexible space.
“In terms of interior design, the colour palette and furniture selections were chosen to support flexibility and wayfaring, creating distinct zones for different styles of working, and a welcoming, contemporary environment that supports staff wellbeing.”
Improving access
Accessible pods and rooms have been incorporated to ensure the space is welcoming and usable for all staff.
It has a higher proportion of height adjustable desks, quiet areas, and is wheelchair accessible throughout than previously.
Power and pushpads for doors throughout the circulation spaces will improve accessibility.

“As we start to transform our campus, flexibility will be crucial. Flexibility for all of us to work in an environment that helps us to thrive and flexibility for our students and staff to learn and work across different parts of our estate.
“This project has been invaluable to test these principles and to create a space we hope people will enjoy.”
