Water supply in the Worsley Building

On Saturday 8 July and Sunday 9 July there will be issues with the water supply in the Worsley Building.

Services to be interrupted

No cold water to levels 3 to 8 but cold water on levels 9, 10 and 11. No hot water to all levels from 6am on Saturday 8th July till 2pm on Sunday 9th July.

Effects of this interruption

Toilets will not flush on levels 3 to 8 and there will be no running water to levels 3 to 8.

From Friday 7 July to Monday 31 July between the hours of 8am to 5pm there will be no ventilation to lecture theatres in the Roger Stevens Building.

Restricted access to SCAPE/Civil Bike Shed

On Tuesday 4 July and Wednesday 5 July, access to the storage of bikes to the rear of SCAPE will be restricted and cordoned off.

This is due to Northern Gas Networks undertaking pipework connections in the Bike Hub area to the rear of SCAPE.

Storage of bikes to the rear of SCAPE.

Effects of this interruption

Cyclists are requested to use alternative storage facilities for the duration of the works. The Estates team will re-instate access to the facility as soon as possible.

No heating in steam supplied buildings

Staff are advised that on Saturday 8 July there will be no heating to steam supplied buildings on campus, and will all have no hot water unless they have backup systems.

This comes as repairs on steam and condense main are being carried out so isolation of steam is needed.

Services to be interrupted

Heating, domestic hot water and steam supplied autoclaves.

Effects of this interruption

There will be no heating to steam supplied buildings except for the CEU building. Autoclaves will be unusable for the duration of the works. All buildings will have no hot water unless they have backup systems.

Natural gas supplies in Civil Engineering – July 2023

On 3 July – 4 July, Northern Gas Network as part of their gas distribution improvement works will be interrupting the Natural Gas Service to Civil Engineering.

Natural Gas supplies to labs/rooms in Civil Engineering.

Effects of this interruption upon building occupants

Loss of natural gas to bunsen burners/gas burning appliances. Potential smell of natural gas due to venting and purging following pipework modifications.

Cemetery Road disruption

On Tuesday 4 July, staff are advised that there will be periods of disruption throughout the day to access in and out of Cemetery Road.

This is due to contractors moving their site accommodation cabins from site, meaning vehicles will be moving in and out of position at the junction of Cemetery Road and Clarendon Road intermittently.

On Wednesday 28 June, staff are warned that access to the bike shed to the rear of SCAPE will not be available for the majority of the day.

This is due to unforeseen complications with the installation of new gas main to SCAPE and Civil Engineering.
