Corridor from level 7 Garstang to level 7 Worsley Airport Lounge

From Saturday 30 September to Sunday 1 October & Saturday 7 October to Sunday 8 October the link corridor from level 7 Garstang to level 7 Worsley Airport Lounge will be closed. This is due to flooring repair works/replacement.

Services to be interrupted

Closure of corridor while flooring repaired/replaced.

Effects of this interruption on building occupants

No access to Worsley level 7 and Garstang level 7 from Garstang internal corridor.

Jill Roberts winning BICSc award

Lifetime achievement award for Head of Cleaning Services

Jill Roberts, Head of Cleaning Services, has been given a lifetime achievement at the BICSc Awards ceremony on 21 September 2023.  

The University’s Head of Cleaning Services won the Eric Hill Award, signifying Jill’s hard work and dedication to the Cleaning Services, including steering her team during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The BICSc awards acknowledges the cleaning industry’s success by recognising some of the sector’s brightest stars – with the Eric Hill Award honouring “those with an exemplary contribution in the field of training and education alongside their unrelenting support for the Institute”.

Ann Allen, Director of Campus Innovation and Development, said:  

“I’m thrilled about this wonderful recognition for Jill, which is thoroughly deserved. During her time at the University, she has led Cleaning Services from strength-to-strength, recently introducing an industry-accredited training scheme to maintain and develop her team’s outstanding professionalism. She steered her team through the challenges of the pandemic with calmness and authority.   

“Cleaning Services are essential to the smooth running of the University, and I couldn’t be more pleased for Jill that she has received this award.”  

Parking on Cavendish Road

From Tuesday 19 September to Friday 22 September no parking will be available and access restrictions will be in place on Cavendish Road due to the EV car charger being replaced and a new unit installed.

Entrance to EC stoner

From Thursday 7 September to Friday 15 September the below entrance door into Level 7 EC Stoner and flight of stairs down from that lobby to Level 6 and up to Level 8 will be closed for general use.

The outside of EC Stoner level 7

There will be signage in the locality.

Access in an emergency is still permitted

This is due to work taking place on behalf of the Digital Education Service.

 

Services to be interrupted

General use of this door and adjacent stair flights from Level 6 to Level 8.

Emergency access/use is not affected and still available.

Power to the Rhodes Lecture Theatre

On Wednesday 13th September from 9am-10am  there will be no power or access available to the Rhodes Lecture Theatre for a maximum of 1 hour including minor data interruptions in the basement area of Electrical Engineering.

Services to be interrupted

Service interruption due to electrical works taking place to facilitate the new Laser Lab construction in the basement of Electrical Engineering.

Effects of this interruption on building occupants

No access to lecture theatre and minor data interruption.
