Cleaning Services celebrate their achievements

Cleaning Services held an event last Thursday (28 September) to celebrate the first cohort of team leaders to complete the British Institute of Cleaning Sciences (BICSc) supervisor certificate.
An accredited centre
The University recently became an accredited centre which means that they can standardise and deliver training to the high level stipulated by BICSc. This is recognised industry-wide as the gold standard.
A lifetime achievement award
Jill Roberts, Head of Cleaning Services, was recognised with a lifetime achievement award by BICSc at their recent conference, and the team also marked this honour.
Certificates were awarded by Ann Allen, Director of Campus Innovation and Development, who said:
“Thank you for taking on the commitment of this training. Continuous professional development is really important for all of us to keep serving the needs of staff and students as best we can.
“As a public-facing team, what you do makes a difference in helping students to feel at home. Walking around campus I see you all chatting to students and staff, helping to create a welcoming atmosphere.”
Denise Hanson, Commercial Director at BICs who attended the event said:
“Working with the University of Leeds is always such a positive experience. The training is demanding, especially if you haven’t done any for a while but everyone threw themselves into it with energy and enthusiasm.”
