Brief
Accessibility, appearance and comfort for students are at the forefront of the Estates team’s investment to transform key areas of the Chemistry Building.
The entrance to the building and the Chaston Chapman Lounge will be significantly upgraded in the second half of 2025.

Work on the upgraded entrance includes the creation of a new lobby and updated décor, helping to create a more accessible area that everyone can use comfortably.
The Chaston Chapman Lounge will be refurbished into a breakout space, with new furniture, décor and lighting to create a more welcoming and comfortable area for students.
The newly refurbished lounge will also be used for events like open days and graduations.
This work is part of the Campus Improvement Programme – a £32 million Estates-led programme that will create an upgraded campus experience for students by revitalising key spaces.
