Refurbishment of Healthcare Spaces
- Work began: March 2016
- Work completed: Autumn 2018
- Cost: £1.6m
Brief: A £1.6m investment delivered a dynamic programme to upgrade academic and teaching led research space. This now enables increased research activity, excellent student education and experiences, and ensures we maintain our position of attracting world-class research and education leaders at the same time as retaining, developing and growing existing talent.
The 17 month refurbishment programme will create a dynamic and rich learning environment for students and staff. Expansion and improvements will be seen throughout, including PhD facilities, student education services and clinical facilities.
Exceptional first class PhD facilities will be relocated and expanded within the heart of the School, along with the refurbishment of and cosmetic improvements to current facilities fit for the world’s best students and generating a vibrant research environment, to allow an innovative research community to flourish.
A new central hub for the Student Education Service will bring together all services and provide the best opportunity to offer easy to access, consistent and seamless high quality services to students.
The expansion of clinical facilities will enable students to gain enhanced training experiences and outcomes through improved facilities and technology. This first class teaching experience will provide students with valuable clinical skills experience.
New facilities will allow the School of Healthcare to intensify research into practice and strengthen educational links with our main partner Leeds Trust Teaching Hospital and other collaborators
