This innovative project forms part of the wider University Landscape strategy and is a result of a collaborative partnership between Estates, Sustainability, and Schools of Biology, Geography and Civil Engineering.

Once complete, not only will the pond visually enhance the landscape outside the Roger Stevens Building, it will also enhance biodiversity, in line with the University Biodiversity Action Plan, improve natural water quality, reduce operational costs and become an innovative space for interdisciplinary, research-led teaching.

The installation of sensors within the pool will provide live data on water quality and a variety of environmental parameters, for staff and students to access for teaching and research use.
